Leni Verhofstadt-Denève (PhD) is professor emeritus (since 2006) in Theoretical and Clinical Developmental Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences (Ghent University).
Apart from numerous contributions to national and inter-national journals, she has written eight books, mainly on theoretical and clinical developmental psychology, longitudinal research, adolescence psychology, and didactical and clinical psychodrama.
She is founder and director of the School of Experiential-Dialectical Psychodrama;
and a member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts.
She coordinated the four year postgraduate psychotherapy training, option: Experiential and Developmental Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (Ghent University and University of Antwerp).
In 2010 she was elected psychologist of the year by the alumni of Ghent University;
and to honorary member of the Dutch-Belgian Psychodra-ma Association.
In 2014 she received from the Academy for Integrative Psychology and Psychotherapy and the Belgian-Dutch Association, the Abraham Maslow Award for the most groundbreaking psychotherapist in Flanders.
Obtained in 2017 from FEPTO (Federation of European Psychodrama Training Organizations), the "Life Time Achievement Award“ for outstanding performance and lasting Contributions to Psychodrama”.
